In this educational video, landscape photographer Hougaard Malan travels to some of his favourite spots in the scenic Overberg. Locations include the iconic Kogelbay, the waterfalls of Harold Porter Botanical Gardens as well as the farmlands near Caledon. He’ll be sharing a lot of tips and knowledge while using a variety of the G-master lenses to highlight the strong points of each.

In the workshop, Hougaard Malan begins with an introduction, setting the stage for the journey through the scenic Overberg region. He then takes the audience to the farmlands near Caledon, offering valuable tips on capturing their expansive beauty. Moving on to the iconic Kogelbay cliffs and beach, Hougaard explores the diverse landscapes and shares techniques for photographing these striking coastal scenes. The workshop continues with a visit to Leopard Falls, where he demonstrates how to capture the dynamic flow of the waterfall. Finally, Hougaard wraps up the workshop by guiding viewers through the editing process for the Leopard Falls images, concluding with a summary of the key lessons covered.
Hougaard Malan
Hougaard Malan is an award winning and globally recognised landscape photographer. His works has been published by the likes of National Geographic and has featured in advertorial campaigns for brands including Toyota, Samsung and FNB. Many of the iconic South African landscape and seascape photos that people flock to were first captured by Hougaard. He spends most of his time guiding landscape photo tours all over the world.
