Online voting terms and conditions and privacy notice.


1. You can take part in Sony’s Mentorship Program’s (powered by Vlog camera ZV-1) vote by accessing Sony Mentorship – Alpha Universe Middle East & Africa ( You will find the shortlisted mentee’s contents and can register your vote by electronically selecting the content you wish to vote for.

2. Voting will open at 12:00 GST on Friday16 April20201 and closes at 12:00 GST 17 June 2021. Any votes registered outside the announced voting times will not count.

3. The winner of the audience poll will receive an Audience Award  A Vlogging Kit comprising of Sony’s Vlog Camera ZV-1 and Wireless Shooting Grip GP-VPT2BT.

4. The number of times you can vote may be restricted. The presence of a cap to voting and what that limit is will be made clear for each vote. *

5. Sony MEA will announce the final result online when voting is closed and the actual result is known on 24 June 2021.

6. Sony MEA reserves the right to disqualify entries or suspend voting if it has reasonable grounds to suspect that fraudulent voting has occurred or if it considers there has been any attempt to rig the voting. Sony MEA has the right to substitute an alternative selection method at its absolute discretion.

7. If, for any reason, the online voting system fails, the vote may be suspended, or a contingency plan may be actioned. *

8. Sony MEA reserves the right to change, cancel or suspend this vote at any time.

9. Sony MEA, its sub-contractors, subsidiaries and/or agencies cannot accept any responsibility whatsoever for any technical failure or malfunction or any other problem with any system, server, provider or otherwise which may result in any vote not being received by Sony MEA, not properly registered or recorded.

10. Please note that Sony MEA employees or anyone who is directly connected in any way with the associated content or the vote is not eligible to vote.

11. The voting accords with the Sony’s’s Code of Conduct for Competitions and Voting as below:

I. Conducting a vote online has the same statistical value as holding a “straw poll” (though it should never be described simply as a “poll”). It is not representative and must be couched – explicitly – in terms of having no scientific value or of being “a bit of fun” or similar phrase. It is not “indicative”, neither is it sufficient to say that “it may not represent public opinion”. It categorically does not represent public opinion – at best, it may coincide with it.

II. Results of an online vote may not be reported beyond the program area or site which initiates it.

III. Online votes are particularly vulnerable to campaigns, lobby groups and individuals who seek to organize mass or multi voting. For that reason, some highly controversial issues are not, normally, suitable for online voting as the risk of being hijacked is too great.
